Paint the Town red
Swiss independence day event
organized by the Swiss embassy in New York
July 30th 2005

The pier 54 on west side hightway, 13th street

A long pier for a big party

A big fair with lots of Swiss people and friendly guests

A big tent with all the flags of the Swiss cantons, but
also the American flag!

A picture from the whole tent. The lady to the left wears
a t-shirt saying "Not only am I perfect, but also Swiss"

Alphorn players in the party tent

Alma came a little bit later to join the Swiss party

Grabbing a Kaesekuchen

And so did her friends Marco and Evan

Here posing in front of the Alphorn players

Marco, Alma and Reto in front of the Alphorn players

The Swiss and the American flag

Mexicans with Swiss T-Shirts

Zuger Kirschtorte was served! A special greeting to my dad Kurt,
who loves these!!!

Buying a Zuger Kirschtorte for Alma - unfortunately
the thing landed on the floor shortly after :-)

We then decided to go and buy Tilsiter, Cervelat, Bratwurst,
Chipolata, Senf and Mayonnaise instead. Alma is bargaining :-)

The traditional "Schwingen", a Swiss form of wrestling

Even Swiss Television DRS was present for the event!

Grabbing by the shorts!

Nice picture of Swiss flags

Not sure what this T-Shirt is about :-) I should get one of these
for the next time I go to Burlington!

They even had a VIP corner there!

Backstage view with the Empire State Building in the distance

Heading back to the apartment, where a
Swiss flag was mounted at the window

What a joy - only after a Swiss fair like this, you can return
home and have Zopf and Swiss mayo!!! Mmmh!

Hanging out in the apartment: the girls playing with a balloon,
Reto sipping a white wine

Reto, Alma, Pat, Fabio, Nina

We then went to the Swiss party at pier 63

The party was really cool, great sound and good atmosphere
